Don’t Let Your Social Media Die this Christmas!

I know what it’s like. Christmas is coming and you’re busy – you’re shopping, visiting family. Having one-too-many glasses of mulled wine. Your work mojo goes down the closer to Turkey Day we get – and sure enough, you’ll find yourself a bit less interested in doing the normal “admin” tasks, like keeping on top of your social media presence.

But it doesn’t have to be hard. If you’re smart, you can clock off on December 24th and not clock back in until January 1st. Whilst still keeping your social media accounts as lively and fresh as ever.

How?

Scheduling! And for this you need two things. Audiense and Buffer.

Audiense

Audiense figures out when the best time for you to Tweet is (Facebook has its own internal stats to tell you when to post.)

So when you’re sitting there with your gingerbread house and your cup of hot chocolate thinking “it’s all very good me scheduling in my social posts, but when should I schedule them for?” Audiense has you covered.

It displays them in a nice little heat map, like the one below. The darker the circle, the more of your online community is online. So start with those.

Let’s say everyone is super active at 3pm. You might want to do a post at 3pm four days a week, and a post at another time the other four.

Or if you want to make it look really authentic, you can do posts at different times on each different day.

So now we’ve figured out when we’re going to send all our Christmas stuff, how are we going to do it without physically logging in ourselves?

Buffer

With Buffer! Buffer is an awesome scheduling tool that allows you to post Facebook, Twitter and Instagram posts at a later date.

With the free version you can link up to 3 accounts and schedule up to 10 pieces of content.

What’s even cooler is that Buffer and Audiense can link up. So with two simple clicks you can send your awesome schedule straight through to Buffer.

Now all you have to do is figure out the kind of content you want to send out over Christmas! And if you need some help with that, check out our awesome post on how to avoid some social media mistakes and post the right content here.
